Leptogenys
is a diverse genus of slender, long-legged ponerine ants found in warmer climates worldwide. These ants live in moderate to large colonies that nest in rotting wood and soil. Some species have developed a nomadic, army ant-like life cycle, and many are specialist predators on different groups of arthropods.
Leptogenys camerunensis, at over 1cm in length (excluding the antennae), is one of the largest species in the genus.
