Discothyrea
is a genus of small, robust proceratiine ants found in warm climates worldwide. These litter-dwelling insects are apparently predators of spider eggs, although the biology of most species remains unstudied.
Discothyrea mixta nest, with piles of arthropod eggs of different species kept as food for the growing larvae.
